The Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) is a government research organisation under Bangladesh's Ministry of Science and Technology, established on 27 February 1973 to promote peaceful uses of atomic energy. Its headquarters are in Agargaon, Dhaka. Its largest institute is the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Ganakbari, Savar, set up in 1975. A 3 MW TRIGA Mark II research reactor, the BAEC TRIGA Research Reactor, was added there in 1986 and is listed as operational. The Savar campus also houses institutes for nuclear science and technology, food and radiation biology, radiation and polymer technology, tissue banking, nuclear minerals and energy science.
