The Institute for Energy Technology is a Norwegian research institute with its main office at Kjeller and slightly under half of its activity in Halden. It was founded in 1948 as the Institute for Nuclear Energy and renamed in 1980. It ran two research reactors: JEEP II at Kjeller, used for physics and materials research and radiopharmaceutical production, and the Halden reactor, used for fuel safety and materials research. Both are now closed, and the Halden reactor passed to Norwegian Nuclear Decommissioning on 1 April 2025.
