Also known as INSTITUTE OF PLASMA PHYSICS NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTER, Institute of Plasma Physics, NSC Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology (KIPT)
The Institute of Plasma Physics is part of the National Science Center Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology (KIPT) in Kharkiv, Ukraine, founded in 1928. The IAEA's 2022 survey lists it as operator of two stellarator-type machines: Uragan-2M, operating since 2006, which studies how irregularities in the helical magnetic field affect confinement, and Uragan-3M, used for radio-frequency plasma heating and divertor studies. KIPT was damaged by shelling during Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and we have not confirmed the current state of either machine.
