The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) is the Iranian government agency, established in 1974 and based in Tehran, responsible for the country's nuclear energy and fuel cycle installations, including the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the Natanz and Fordow enrichment plants. Its research division includes a nuclear fusion research centre. The IAEA's 2022 survey lists it as operator of two small tokamaks: Alvand, and Damavand, which was built from the Russian TVD tokamak and studies plasmas shaped like ITER's.
