Soreq Nuclear Research Center is an Israeli research and development institute near Yavne and Palmachim, operating under the Israel Atomic Energy Commission and under IAEA supervision. It has a 5 megawatt pool-type light water research reactor supplied by the United States in the late 1950s under the Atoms for Peace programme. It hosts SARAF, the Soreq Applied Research Accelerator Facility, a superconducting linear accelerator for protons and deuterons.
