Vendor design review
An optional, pre-licensing assessment offered by Canada's nuclear regulator, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, in which CNSC staff review a reactor vendor's design against the regulator's requirements before any licence application is filed. The CNSC states explicitly that a vendor design review does not issue a licence, does not certify a design, and does not bind the Commission's later licensing decisions, so it functions as early feedback rather than an approval.
