Large reactor
A fission reactor design rated above 300 MWe electrical output per unit, beyond the IAEA's usual SMR line. The World Nuclear Association's count of 441 operable power reactors with about 404 GWe of capacity (August 2026) gives an average of about 920 MWe per reactor. This class is DERIVED from a design's stated per-unit electrical rating (metric:electrical-capacity), never assigned. A design with no capacity measurement on record has no scale class. The IAEA's own wording is 'typically' up to 300 MW(e) per unit for SMRs and 'typically up to 10 MW(e)' for microreactors, and it does not say net or gross; many developers do not either, so the rating is used as the developer states it.
