The Institute of Atomic Physics in Măgurele, Romania, was founded in 1956. It is Romania's signatory of the EUROfusion agreement and coordinates Romanian participation in international programmes including EUROfusion, ELI-NP and CERN. It also acts as a funding agency for national research programmes. EUROfusion says Romanian participation involves about 80 researchers, with the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics as the main contributor.
