Also known as INSTITUTE OF PLASMA PHYSICS
The Institute of Plasma Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in Prague, operated the COMPASS tokamak, a machine first built at Culham in the UK and restarted in Prague in 2006, until its final experiments in August 2021. It is now building COMPASS-U, a high-magnetic-field tokamak developed with European and international partners to support ITER operation and the design of the EU DEMO power plant. The IAEA's 2022 survey expected COMPASS-U to start operating in 2023; Wikipedia still described it as under construction in May 2024.
