Plasma

A gas heated so hot that electrons separate from their nuclei, leaving a mix of charged particles that behaves differently from an ordinary gas: it conducts electricity and responds strongly to magnetic and electric fields. Every fusion fuel becomes a plasma before it can fuse. The Sun, lightning and the inside of a fluorescent tube are all plasmas, at very different temperatures and densities.
