Axpo Holding is a Swiss energy company headquartered in Baden, Aargau, created in 2001 from the reorganisation of Nordostschweizerische Kraftwerke (NOK) and wholly owned by the cantons of north-eastern Switzerland and their electricity companies. In Switzerland its generation is mainly hydroelectric and nuclear. Its nuclear assets include the Beznau plant, where Unit 1 started in 1969 as Switzerland's first commercial nuclear power plant and Unit 2 followed in 1971.
