Also known as EPFL Swiss Plasma Center, SPC, SWISS PLASMA CENTER
The Swiss Plasma Center is the fusion and plasma physics research centre of EPFL, the Swiss federal institute of technology in Lausanne. Its main device is TCV (Tokamak 脿 Configuration Variable), which produced its first plasma in November 1992 and can form a wide range of plasma shapes without changes to its hardware. The IAEA World Survey of Fusion Devices also lists the centre as the operator of a smaller device, TORPEX. The centre also runs education and training for fusion scientists and engineers.
