ASG Superconductors is an Italian maker of superconducting magnets and systems headquartered in Genoa, with a coil factory at La Spezia. It grew out of the magnet unit of Ansaldo, which was renamed ASG in 2000 when the Malacalza family became its owner. In fusion it has supplied toroidal field coils for ITER, the first of which was completed at La Spezia in 2017, coils for Japan's JT-60SA tokamak and non-planar magnets for the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, and earlier coils for Tore Supra, COMPASS and JET. It also built magnets for CERN's Large Hadron Collider and makes MRI systems and magnesium diboride superconducting wire.
