Breakthrough Energy Ventures is the investment fund of Breakthrough Energy, the clean-energy network founded by Bill Gates in 2015. The fund was set up in December 2016 with about US$1 billion from a group of wealthy investors, and invests in companies with long, high-risk paths to return. In fusion, our deals data record it in the Commonwealth Fusion Systems Series B (2021), the Pacific Fusion Series A (2024) and the Type One Energy seed round (2024).
