Also known as COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Columbia University is a private research university in New York City, founded in 1754 as King's College. Its Plasma Physics Laboratory runs small fusion experiments. The IAEA World Survey of Fusion Devices lists Columbia as operator of HBT-EP, a tokamak used to study high-beta plasma performance. The laboratory also built the Columbia Non-neutral Torus, a small stellarator that began operating in November 2004 to study non-neutral plasmas held on magnetic surfaces.
