HYLENR is an Indian start-up whose site gives an address at IIIT Hyderabad. It says it treats fusion as a problem of materials rather than scale and works on what it calls lattice confinement fusion, in which it says nuclear reactions take place inside solid metal lattices loaded with hydrogen, with no hot plasma. It claims a coefficient of performance (heat out over energy in) of 1.8 sustained for more than two years from a device using milligrams of hydrogen and grams of nickel, and targets industrial heat, defence, data centres and off-grid power.
