MetOx International is a Houston, Texas manufacturer of high-temperature superconducting wire, sold under the name Xeus. The wire is a thin tape coated with a superconducting ceramic by metal-organic chemical vapour deposition in a continuous reel-to-reel process, a technique that grew out of research at the University of Houston, where a co-founder was a professor. Such tape is the material in the high-field magnets that several fusion developers are building, and it is also used for power cables. MetOx says it opened its first large-scale commercial production line in Houston in 2024 and is moving to high-volume production in 2026.
