Microsoft

🇺🇸 Redmond, US · Active

Microsoft is a US software and cloud computing company headquartered in Redmond, Washington, founded in 1975. It appears in this directory as a buyer of electricity, not as a developer or investor. In May 2023 Helion Energy announced an agreement to supply Microsoft with power from Helion's first fusion plant, which Helion said it expected to have online by 2028, producing 50 MW or more after a year of ramp-up; Constellation is the power marketer. In September 2024 Constellation signed a 20-year agreement to sell Microsoft the output of Three Mile Island Unit 1 in Pennsylvania, a fission reactor shut in 2019, which it plans to restart as the Crane Clean Energy Center. Microsoft has linked both deals to its goal of becoming carbon negative by 2030.
