SuperPower Inc., based in Glenville, New York, manufactures second-generation high-temperature superconducting (2G-HTS) wire and has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese cable maker Furukawa Electric since February 2012. It says partners using its wire have built cables carrying more than 10,000 amperes and magnets of more than 40 tesla, and it names compact fusion reactors among the applications of such magnets.
