Chubu Electric Power (Chuden) is the electric utility for the central Chubu region of Honshu, Japan's third largest by generating capacity, sales and revenue according to Wikipedia. It owns the Hamaoka nuclear power plant, whose shutdown forced it to buy extra natural gas. In January 2026 Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority said Chubu Electric had fabricated earthquake risk data for Hamaoka and suspended its safety review for a restart.
