Crossfield Fusion

Crossfield Fusion is a UK company founded in 2019 to build a compact fusion reactor based on a patented design it calls the Epicyclotron. It built a working fusion device in 2021, but in October 2021 it concluded from experiments and particle-in-cell modelling of losses that the reactor would not scale as hoped and could not reach net energy gain. It says it is now exploring the use of its technology for separating hydrogen isotopes in the fusion fuel cycle, which is why it is listed here as a supplier rather than a fusion developer. Companies House lists it as active (company 12220468, incorporated September 2019).
