Eletronuclear is the Brazilian mixed-economy company created on 1 August 1997 to build and operate nuclear power plants in Brazil, formed by merging Nuclen with the nuclear division of Furnas. It runs the Almirante Álvaro Alberto nuclear complex at Angra dos Reis in Rio de Janeiro state, which Wikipedia says holds Brazil's monopoly on nuclear generation: Angra 1 (609 MWe net, grid connection 1985) and Angra 2 (1,275 MWe, 2000), both pressurised water reactors. Work on Angra 3 began in 1984, stopped in 1986, restarted in 2010 and resumed again in November 2022. It is a subsidiary of ENBPar, the state holding company created in 2021.

Pressurised water reactor
Ordinary (light) water kept under high pressure so it heats without boiling, transferring heat to a separate steam loop; the water is both coolant and moderator. Fuel is low-enriched uranium oxide pellets in zirconium-alloy rods. The most common reactor type in service worldwide.
