EUROfusion is a consortium of European national fusion laboratories and universities, established in 2014 to succeed the European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA). Its Programme Management Unit is in Garching, near Munich. Wikipedia reports that 30 research organisations and universities from 25 European Union countries, plus Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Kingdom, have signed the consortium agreement. It supports, funds and coordinates fusion research on behalf of the European Commission's Euratom programme, including experiments on the Joint European Torus (JET) in the UK, preparation for ITER, and design work on DEMO, a planned demonstration power plant. It is a funding and coordination body rather than the owner of a machine.
