We are advancing Laser Driven Inertial Fusion Energy, building on NIF’s scientific foundation to develop the world's first commercial fusion energy architecture, using Deuterium-Tritium fuel—proven by our team to create ignition at Lawrence Livermore National Lab.

Our approach is the closest architecture to the only scientifically proven Laser Fusion system. Our design focuses on manufacturability, with components that can be mass-produced and easily shipped. It will also offer power plant-grade reliability—modulatory creates the highest reliability and serviceability of any fusion system.

We use Deuterium-Tritium fusion fuel and have one of the only target labs in the world to design and optimize fusion fuel. Deuterium-Tritium originates from sea water & lithium and is the only fuel to achieve controlled ignition and gain.

The science of laser fusion is proven. Our focus is on the engineering challenges of optimizing the fuel and laser systems, and on developing an integrated engineering prototype to validate the engineering required for commercial energy production.

Our team has developed and deployed some of the most advanced high energy high repetition rate laser IP in the world.

Our precision engineered, mass produced Pearl™ fuel capsules will increase output +30x compared to the current NIF indirect drive fuel system.

Less than two weeks after Debbie’s team achieved scientific ignition, Tom and Markus announced the launch of Focused Energy, a laser fusion company building on the breakthrough at NIF.

Our flagship laboratory in Darmstadt is home to Focused Energy’s world leading targetry and laser development capabilities. The facility spans approximately 1,600 square meters and was purpose built to support precision fabrication, assembly, and testing of fusion fuel targets and related laser subsystems. It serves as a core site for experimental work underpinning our laser driven fusion architecture. Backed by strong support from the State of Hesse and the broader region, Darmstadt is where the science becomes real.

Planned & Under Development. Biblis is where the future takes shape. Focused Energy is in the construction phase for a multi-stage Fusion Campus designed to scale from early experimentation to commercial power generation: hosting an Integrated Test Facility, a Fusion Pilot Plant, and ultimately a first-of-its-kind fusion power plant.

Focused Energy’s Austin facility focuses on target tracking, engagement, and related systems engineering. Opened in early 2026, the site comprises approximately 30,600 square feet and includes two clean rooms to support advanced optical and laser adjacent work. The Austin facility also serves as a U.S. hub for collaboration, testing, and program execution.

In 2021, scientists at Lawrence Livermore made history by achieving fusion ignition. This marked the moment fusion shifted from scientific ambition to engineering reality. Focused Energy is commercializing that breakthrough with the scientists who got us to ignition and the engineers who will deliver fusion energy to the world.
