The King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) is a Saudi government and research body founded in 2010 with a mandate to develop nuclear and renewable energy in the kingdom. It is headquartered in Riyadh and chaired by the Minister of Energy. Its tasks include proposing national policy for nuclear and renewable energy and conducting feasibility studies for nuclear reactors. With the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute it co-developed SMART, a 107 MWe integral pressurised water reactor for electricity and seawater desalination, according to the IAEA's 2024 catalogue of small reactors.
