Xcimer Energy is a US inertial fusion company based in Denver, Colorado. It is developing laser-driven fusion using excimer lasers, gas lasers energised by electron beams, which it says offer a low-cost route to the very high laser energies fusion needs. Its first high-energy laser system, Phoenix, broke ground in 2024 and is now running; the company describes it as the first electron-beam-pumped excimer laser built in the private sector. In February 2026 it published a white paper with the laser maker TRUMPF. It says it has nearly 200 staff and expects a 400 MW power plant, Athena, to operate by 2035.
